Reading music begins with understanding how the page is organized. In this episode, we explore the five lines and four spaces of the musical staff, how note placement represents higher and lower sounds, and how clefs give those positions meaning.

We also introduce the note names found on the lines and spaces of the treble clef. Although mnemonics can be useful starting tools, recognizing notes fluently requires more than memorizing a sentence or spelling a word.
